Kaleb Johnson Battles Adversity On and Off Track During Tough Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. (Oct. 13, 2025) – Kaleb Johnson fought adversity throughout last weekend in the Northeast.

Johnson and Team DGRD were unable to compete in a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event on Friday at New Egypt Speedway in New Egypt, N.J., because of a trailer problem. The team then battled through the learning woes on Saturday at Lincoln Speedway.

“The first time we went there we struggled with the rotation of the race car and this time we had a little too much,” Johnson said. “I didn’t qualify well. I was running in a decent spot in the heat race and screwed up. I drove it in too hot into turn three and spun out. I had just passed for eighth. I was frustrated, but at the end of the day I’m trying to get the laps to be competitive. I chalk it up as a learning experience.”

Johnson, who qualified 17th quickest in his group and placed 11th in a heat race, rallied from 10th to sixth place in the C Main.

Another big weekend of learning is on tap as Johnson will make his debut at three tracks during a World of Outlaws tripleheader. The action begins on Friday at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind., during the Putnamville Showdown. On Saturday, LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Ill., hosts the LaSalle Showdown. The weekend wraps up on Sunday at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis., during the Badger State Triple.

“I’m looking forward to it because they are all shorter tracks and we’ve been decent on the shorter tracks,” Johnson said. “A main goal is to make the features and get as many laps as we can. That’s a good expectation. We’re getting out of our comfort zone and we want to maximize our learning.”
