Kaleb earned the North Dakota Junior 2 Heavy State Championship on Sunday afternoon at the Forks Karting Association in Grand Forks, ND. Kaleb started on the pole and survived several yellow flags to lead all 20 laps in the Junior 2 Animal Heavy feature. Earlier in the day Kaleb came up one spot short of his second championship as he finished second in the Junior 2 Light Championship feature.

Kaleb raced the double show at the University Plains Speedway in Brookings, SD. on Saturday July 18th and Sunday July 19th. Kaleb recorded two wins on Saturday along with 2 second place finishes. On Sunday he recorded 1 win, 2 seconds and 3 thirds.

Kaleb raced with the Midwest Champions Series on July 3rd & 4th at the Wavelink Raceway Park just outside of Lincoln, NE. On Friday he started 10th in the Jr. 2 Medium feature and raced his way up to 6th. We really needed a yellow to bunch the field as Kaleb had a fast kart but went 20 laps non-stop. The Jr. 2 Heavy feature was rained out. On Sat. July 4th Kaleb started 13th in the Jr. 2 medium and finished in 6th again. In the Jr. 2 Heavy feature he started 8th and took the lead on the fourth lap and led the final 16 laps for his 7th feature win of the season.

Kaleb raced at the Uncle Frank's - Ultramax Nationals at the University Plains Speedway in Brookings, SD. on Sunday afternoon. Kaleb qualified 5th for the Junior 3 Lite feature and then ran 4th for much of the feature. Then in the last few laps the top five started battling for the top spot and after the dust settled Kaleb ended up in fifth. He qualified 6th for the Junior 3 Pro Heavy feature got a great start and was running in fifth place when the motor started to cut out in the last 3 laps. Kaleb dropped 2 spots to 7th at the checkered.

Kaleb raced with IKF Northland Tour at the Atwater Speedway in Atwater, MN. on Saturday. In the Jr. 2 Briggs Animal Light division he led the feature for a brief time and faded back to 6th at the checkered as we had the wrong right rear tire on. We changed tires for the heavy feature as he started 9th and was making his way towards the front. As he was passing the #27 kart for third the two of them got hooked together and both went flying into the turn 4 fence. Kaleb's chain came off so he was unable to restart. Sunday's races were rained out again.

Kaleb raced against some of the best go-kart racers in the country Sunday afternoon as the Mid-America Speedway Nationals rolled into the Thunder Lake Speedway in Kansas City, KS. Kaleb timed 10th in Jr. 3 Heavies and finished 12th in the 20 lap feature. He timed 11th in Jr. 3 Lights and finished 13th.

The Heartland Speedway in Rapid City, SD. hosted the second race of the IKF Midwest Speedway Tour. Kaleb picked up where he left off in Brookings. He won all 6 heat races and went on to win the Junior 2 light feature and finish second in both Heavy's and Animals. Sunday's races were rained out.

Kaleb kicked off the 2009 Midwest Speedway Tour in Brookings, SD. by winning 4 out of 6 features over the weekend. Kaleb swept at 4 flathead classes and finished 2nd in the Junior 2 Animal Heavy class on Sunday and had the chain come off in Saturday's feature. For the first time in his career Kaleb started on the pole position for all 6 feature races.

The 2009 season opener schedule for University Plains Speedway in Brookings, SD. was cancelled because of the rain and cold weather. We will try again next weekend as the IKF Midwest Speedway Tour rolls into Brookings.
